Scheduled Pacing: Controlling the Watch & Learn Rhythm
Facing a long animation series or a structured online course, children often want to "finish it all in one sitting". "Anxin Learn" created a Pacing System: it releases episodes on a schedule you control, building patience and self-discipline.
[!TIP] 30-second pacing quick-start
- A metronome, not a brake: Daily time limits are the "brake"; pacing is the "metronome" — it stops binge-watching at the source;
- One episode per day, automatically: Set 1 episode per day and the next unlocks at midnight — smooth, steady progress through big courses;
- Weekend-only animation: Entertainment shows can open only on weekends; on weekdays your child just sees a friendly "See you Saturday";
- Reward good behavior: After a focused check-in or homework, tap [[Unlock Next Episode Early]] as a treat.
1. Why Schedule at All?
Q: I already set a daily time limit — why schedule too?
A daily limit (e.g. 30 minutes) controls how long your child watches, but not what pace they consume. Pacing solves that at the source:
- No more binge sessions: It stops children from racing through 10 short clips in 30 restless minutes, and encourages actually digesting one episode;
- Builds healthy anticipation: Like the old days of weekly TV serials, your child learns to "look forward to the next update" — a great way to build delayed gratification;
- Steady progress through structured courses: For phonics or graded reading series, episodes unlock step by step in teaching order — no skipping ahead or jumping around.
[!NOTE] How pacing fits into screen-time control The limit is the "brake"; pacing is the "metronome". Together they protect eyesight and build long-term self-discipline and planning.
2. Common Setups
Q: How do I let my child watch just one episode a day?
- Add the video to pacing: Go to [[Parent Center]] → [[Pacing Management]] → tap [[Add Pacing]] and pick the video;
- Set the rhythm: Advance "By episode", and set each unlock to
1 episode; - Pick the days: Select "Every day", then tap [[Save Pacing]];
- Let it run: Each morning the next episode unlocks automatically; the rest stay locked until their turn.
[!TIP] Keep curiosity alive Each newly unlocked episode shows a bright "Today's Update" / "New This Week" badge on your child's screen — a little reward that fuels excitement to learn.
Q: How do I make cartoons available only on weekends?
- Set weekend unlocks: In the pacing settings, choose only "Saturday" and "Sunday" (or the ready-made "Weekend" preset);
- Set the amount:
2 episodesper unlock, then save; - Weekdays stay locked: Monday–Friday the show stays locked; tapping it shows a gentle "Expected to update Saturday", nudging your child to focus on schoolwork and reading.
Q: How do I pace a unit-based course (Unit 1, Unit 2...)?
- Advance by group: For courses with units, choose "Advance by group";
- Set the weekly rhythm:
1 groupper unlock, on "Mon, Wed, Fri" — a regular weekly cadence for structured courses.
3. FAQ & Details
Q: What do locked episodes look like on the child's screen?
Children can see all episode titles in the list, but locked ones show a gray padlock. Tapping a locked episode shows a friendly message: "Not available yet (expected Saturday)" — no harsh error pop-up.
Q: My child did great — can I unlock the next episode early?
Yes! Go to [[Parent Center]] → [[Pacing Management]] → find the video → tap [[Unlock Next Episode Early]].
- The next episode becomes playable immediately;
- Early unlocks don't disturb the schedule — the next scheduled update still follows the original rhythm.
[!IMPORTANT] Early unlocks don't change your calendar Manual "early unlock" is a one-time reward only. It does not shift the pacing calendar — the next scheduled release still happens as planned.
Q: How do I change the starting episode or cancel pacing?
- Change the start point: Tap [[Edit Pacing]] → choose "From the beginning", "From where we left off", or pick a specific episode;
- Cancel pacing: Tap [[Cancel Pacing]] on the pacing card and confirm — all episodes immediately become freely playable again.
Q: What does the "finish estimate" mean?
Using your weekly unlock frequency and the total episode count, the app estimates how many weeks the whole course will take (e.g. 2 episodes/week · roughly 12 weeks to finish), so you always know the big picture.
