Backing Up & Restoring Data on a New Device

Over time, you'll have carefully curated dozens of categories, hundreds of hand-picked videos, and refined pacing schedules in "Anxin Learn".

To protect all that effort from a broken device, accidental uninstall, or an upgrade — use Backup & Restore regularly.

  • WeChat / AirDrop transfer: export a structured .json backup file, send it via WeChat's File Transfer or AirDrop, and import smoothly on the new device;

  • Big offline videos: all metadata is inherited; physical MP4s are best copied over via computer or Face-to-Face Transfer.

1. What's Included in a Backup

The encrypted structured backup fully covers these 5 core assets:

  1. Parental control & security settings: your 4-digit PIN, the anti-reading verification, and bypass protection;
  2. Categories & video library: your custom category structure, all added video/audio collection links, covers, and custom ordering;
  3. Time limits & pacing plans: daily total caps, per-category quotas, bedtime locking, and each video's pacing rules;
  4. Stars & growth assets: every star earned, honor badges, and the Wish Wall list — the positive-feedback loop survives;
  5. Viewing history & dashboard: past episodes watched, 7-day usage chart, and subject exploration spectrum.

2. How to Export & Store a Backup

  1. Open Data Management: Go to [[Parent Center]] → tap [[Backup & Restore]];
  2. Generate the backup: in the Export area, tap [[Export Full Backup]];
  3. Pick how to store it:
    • WeChat "File Transfer" (recommended): tap Share and send it to WeChat's own file-transfer chat — reachable from any device, anytime;
    • AirDrop: from iPhone to iPad, AirDrop it and tap receive on the tablet;
    • Cloud / local folder: save to Baidu Drive, iCloud, or the device's Downloads.

3. Moving to a New Phone / Tablet? Restore Everything in 4 Steps

  1. Get ready on the new device: install "Anxin Learn";
  2. Receive the backup: save the old device's .json file to the new device via WeChat or AirDrop;
  3. Start import: go to [[Parent Center]] → [[Backup & Restore]] → tap [[Import Backup]];
  4. Preview & confirm: pick the file. The app validates it and shows a preview (e.g. "8 categories · 142 videos · pacing & stars included");
  5. Rebuilt in seconds: tap confirm and the full library and settings are restored within 1–2 seconds!

4. FAQ & Data Migration

Q: Will importing a backup overwrite what I added on the new device?

Importing merges and rebuilds based on the backup file. If the new device has important temporary content, export a snapshot backup from it first, just in case.

Q: Are the tens of GB of local offline videos included in the backup?

The backup stores every video's metadata, episode structure, playback index, and progress (only a few hundred KB, so it transfers instantly). Because of physical storage limits, the large local video files themselves should be copied via computer transfer or cloud drive to the matching folder on the new device.

Q: Does the backup include the parent PIN? Will it change after the move?

Yes, fully! After restoring, your original 4-digit PIN and hint carry over exactly — your child can't use a device switch to crack the lock.
