Per-Category Time Limits: Limit Animation, Keep Science Unlimited

A very common dilemma:

  • "If it's graded English reading, a history documentary, or a teacher's lecture — I'd love my child to stay immersed without hitting a strict cap;"
  • "But pure-fun animation clips? I want a hard limit of 20 minutes a day."

One-size-fits-all time limits can't handle this. "Anxin Learn" gives you independent, precise time limits per category.

[!TIP] 30-second category-limit quick-start

  • No more one-size-fits-all: Animation capped at 20 minutes; deep science and classic lectures unlimited;
  • Gentle redirection: When animation time runs out, only that category locks — with a soft nudge: "Why not watch the dinosaur documentary?";
  • Weekdays and weekends set separately: Lock entertainment animation on weekdays, open it on weekends — study vs. fun, clearly divided;
  • Daily total still rules: Even unlimited science categories stay within your daily red line — eyesight stays safe.

1. How to Set Different Limits

  1. Open Time Management: Go to [[Parent Center]] → tap [[Time Management]];
  2. Turn on per-category limits: In the Screen Time Control settings, enable [[Per-Category Limits]];
  3. Set the quotas:
    • Entertainment animation: 20 minutes per day (or lock it on weekdays);
    • English starter: 40 minutes per day;
    • Science & study: No separate cap (still within the global daily total).
  4. Save and done: Confirm and the new rules apply immediately on your child's device!

2. What Your Child Experiences

  • Over-entertainment is stopped precisely: After 20 minutes of animation, that category's covers turn gray and locked, with a gentle message: "Today's animation time is up — why not explore the amazing dinosaur encyclopedia?";
  • Deep learning stays protected: Your child can still open science or English categories and keep going — the screen-time line is held, and they're naturally guided toward worthwhile content.

3. FAQ & Priority Rules

Q: When a category limit and the daily total conflict, which wins?

The strictest rule wins. Example: daily total 45 minutes, animation cap 20, science unlimited. If your child watches 20 minutes of animation first, animation locks and 25 minutes remain for science. If they watch science up to the 45-minute total, the full rest lock triggers — no light-emitting video plays at all.

Q: How do I change which category a video belongs to?

Go to [[Parent Center]] → [[Video Management]], open the video's detail/edit page, and adjust its category tag (animation, science, Chinese classics, English, etc.) in the dropdown.

Q: Can I disable a category on weekdays and allow it only on weekends?

Yes! The limits panel lets you configure weekdays and weekends separately: drag the weekday slider to the leftmost "No viewing", and set weekends to 30 minutes — instant weekend treat.
